Choose the invitation format

Different events need different amounts of space. Compare the finished dimensions and choose the format that gives your wording, images and practical details enough room to be read comfortably.

• A6 invitations measure 105×148mm and provide a compact portrait format for essential event details, smaller celebrations and straightforward announcements.
• A5 invitations measure 148×210mm and offer more room for schedules, directions, photography, detailed wording and event information.
• 5×7 invitations measure approximately 125×175mm and provide a familiar balance between compact handling and useful portrait space.
• 148×148 square invitations create an equal-sided canvas for bold typography, photography, illustration and visually led event stationery.

For a concise announcement, A6 may provide all the space you need. A5 is helpful when the invitation includes a schedule or additional practical information, while 5×7 offers a familiar middle ground. The square format gives a design-led event stationery project a different visual starting point.

Choose the invitation media

The media affects the weight, texture and appearance of the finished invitation. GSM means grams per square metre and gives a general indication of how light or substantial a sheet feels.

• Silk offers a smooth printed surface and suits colour, photography and fine detail.
• Uncoated provides a more natural surface and can suit understated or handwritten styles.
• Gesso gives the invitation a distinctive textured feel.
• Artboard provides a firmer, more substantial result.
• Kraft creates a warm, natural appearance for informal or craft-led events.
• Magnetic media is a specialist option for suitable promotional or display purposes.

The available media include 130gsm Silk, 150gsm Silk, 250gsm Silk, 350gsm Silk, 120gsm Uncoated, 300gsm Uncoated, 140gsm Gesso, 300gsm Gesso, 400gsm Artboard, 280gsm Kraft and 770gsm Magnetic.

Finishes and envelopes

Depending on the selected product configuration, you can choose No Laminate, Matt Laminate, Gloss Laminate or Soft Touch Laminate.

Lamination changes the look and feel of the printed surface, so consider whether the invitation needs to be written on before choosing a finish.

Envelope options shown on the product pages include no envelopes, white envelopes and Kraft envelopes. White envelopes provide a clean and traditional presentation, while Kraft can complement a natural or informal event style.

Prepare your invitation artwork

Each format has its own finished size and artwork dimensions. Check the individual product page before designing and include the required 3mm bleed on every edge.

• A6 finished size 105×148mm — artwork 111×154mm including bleed
• A5 finished size 148×210mm — artwork 154×216mm including bleed
• 5×7 finished size approximately 125×175mm — artwork 131×181mm including bleed
• 148×148 finished size 148×148mm — artwork 154×154mm including bleed

Bleed is the extra artwork beyond the final cutting line. It allows background colours, photographs and design elements to reach the edge cleanly after trimming.

Before uploading:

• Use the correct format and orientation for your chosen product.
• Keep names, dates, times, addresses and RSVP details inside a safe margin.
• Extend edge-to-edge backgrounds into the bleed area.
• Use clear type sizes and strong contrast for essential information.
• Plan the front and reverse separately if choosing double-sided printing.
• Check photographs, logos, QR codes and website addresses carefully.
• Proofread every personalised version before sending the file.

The ordering system cannot detect multi-page documents automatically. If you supply multiple pages or designs, choose the correct quantity for the number of finished invitations required.

Where the live options allow it, multiple designs can be included within one order quantity. This is useful for different guest versions, event dates or coordinated stationery ranges.

Single-sided or double-sided printing

Single-sided printing keeps the event message and main design on one face. It can work well for a concise invitation or a strong visual layout.

Double-sided printing provides extra space for:
