Give your artwork a classic format that customers recognise with professionally printed 5×7 greeting cards from ABC Service. The portrait 5×7 size is well suited to illustrated card ranges, seasonal collections, retail shelves, handmade-market products, reseller stock and personal greetings.

Each card starts as a 10×7 sheet measuring 254×178mm. It is printed, scored down the middle and folded to a finished size of approximately 127×178mm. Cards come with a choice of white or Kraft envelopes, helping you prepare a complete product for retail, gifting or posting.

What size is a 5×7 greeting card?

A finished 5×7 greeting card is approximately 127×178mm, or 5×7 inches. It is produced from a flat 10×7 sheet measuring 254×178mm before the centre score and fold.

The folded format gives you space to plan:

    • The front cover
    • The back of the card
    • The inside left panel
    • The inside right panel

Its familiar proportions make the format easy to display, package and compare across a collection. It is large enough for detailed artwork while remaining practical for a standard greeting-card range.

A recognisable format gives customers one less thing to think about — they can concentrate on the design and the message.

Why choose 5×7 cards for a range?

The 5×7 format works particularly well when the design is the main reason someone will pick up the card. The portrait shape gives an illustration, photograph, artwork or seasonal design a clear area to work in without the card becoming difficult to display.

It is a useful option for:

    • Independent shops and galleries
    • Artists, illustrators and makers
    • Resellers building a varied card range
    • Birthday, anniversary and Christmas collections
    • Wedding and celebration stationery
    • Customer thank-you and business greeting cards
    • Handmade-market stock and gift-shop displays

Ordering several designs in one production run can help create a collection with a consistent size while allowing each cover to have its own artwork.

    Choose the card media

GSM means grams per square metre and is used to describe the weight of paper and card. The printed surface also affects colour, texture, writing and the overall feel of the finished card.

The product page lists these media options:

    • 300gsm Uncoated for a natural surface with a softer, more writable feel
    • 350gsm Silk for a smooth surface and strong colour reproduction
    • 400gsm Artboard for a heavier, more substantial card
    • 280gsm Kraft for a natural brown appearance
    • 300gsm Gesso for a distinctive textured-style surface

Consider the artwork and the way the card will be handled before choosing the media. A bold illustration, handwritten note and premium retail card may each suit a different surface.

    Envelopes and finishing options

5×7 greeting cards can be ordered with white or Kraft envelopes. The product page also lists No Laminate, Matt Laminate, Gloss Laminate and Soft Touch Laminate options.

Lamination adds a protective film and changes the surface appearance. Matt laminate reduces shine, gloss laminate creates a more reflective finish and Soft Touch laminate gives a smoother tactile feel. Check the live product options for the combinations available with your chosen media and quantity.

Single-sided and double-sided printing choices are available. Check the selection carefully so it matches the surfaces covered by your artwork.

    Prepare your 5×7 artwork

The product instructions request artwork at 260×184mm, including 3mm bleed on every edge. Bleed is the extra background artwork beyond the final trim area, helping prevent unprinted edges after cutting.

    • Set the artwork size to 260×184mm including 3mm bleed
    • Allow for the flat 10×7 sheet and its centre score
    • Make sure the artwork continues across the back of the card where required
    • Keep important text, logos and details safely inside the trim area
    • Keep fine detail and essential wording away from the score line
    • Check the orientation of the inside panels before exporting
    • Extend background colours and images into the bleed area
    • Proofread every design before uploading

A simple folded paper mock-up can help you check which panel becomes the front, where the back artwork sits and whether any directional design elements need rotating.

    Ordering several designs

The ordering system cannot detect multi-page documents automatically. If your file contains two or more pages or designs, choose the correct quantity for the number of finished cards required.

Where the live options allow it, you can submit multiple designs within the order quantity. This is useful for building a coordinated range for a shop, reseller, artist’s collection or seasonal display.
