A7 cards are printed from an A6 sheet measuring 105×148mm, scored down the middle and folded to a finished A7 size of approximately 74×105mm. Cards are supplied with a choice of white or Kraft envelopes, helping you prepare them for posting, packaging or presentation.

What size is an A7 greeting card?

The finished folded card is approximately 74×105mm. It is produced from a flat A6 sheet measuring 105×148mm before the centre score and fold.

This gives you four design areas to consider:

• The front cover
• The back of the card
• The inside left panel
• The inside right panel

The compact size works particularly well when your message is short, your design is simple or the card needs to fit neatly inside packaging or a small gift.

A small card can still carry a thoughtful message — the format simply encourages you to make every part of the design count.

Choose the card media

The product page offers a choice of card media. In printing, gsm means grams per square metre and gives a general indication of the weight of the card. The surface also affects how the finished design feels and appears.

• 300gsm Uncoated has a natural, writable feel and is useful for a softer, less glossy finish.
• 350gsm Silk has a smooth surface that supports bright colour reproduction.
• 400gsm Artboard provides a more substantial, rigid card feel.
• 280gsm Kraft offers a natural brown appearance for designs that suit a more understated look.
• 300gsm Gesso provides a distinctive textured surface.

Envelopes and finishing options

A7 greeting cards can be supplied with white or Kraft envelopes. You can also choose from the finishing options shown on the live product page:

• No Laminate
• Matt Laminate
• Gloss Laminate
• Soft Touch Laminate

Lamination adds a protective film to the printed surface and changes the look and feel of the card. The selected laminate may add one to two working days to the production time, so check the live option and despatch information before ordering.

Single-sided and double-sided printing options are available. Check the product choices carefully to make sure they match the number of printed surfaces in your artwork.

Prepare your artwork correctly

The product instructions require artwork at 154×216mm, including 3mm bleed on every edge. Bleed is the extra artwork that extends beyond the trim area, helping avoid unprinted edges after the card is cut.

When preparing your file:

• Set the supplied artwork size to 154×216mm including 3mm bleed
• Allow for the finished A6 sheet and centre fold that become the A7 card
• Keep text, logos and important details safely away from the trim and score line
• Check the orientation of the inside pages before exporting the file
• Extend background colours and images into the bleed area
• Check that the design works across the front, back and inside panels
• Proofread names, dates, addresses and messages before uploading

Because the card is scored and folded, a little planning around the centre line will help the cover and inside message sit in the correct positions.

Ordering multiple designs

The ordering system cannot detect multi-page documents automatically. If your artwork contains two or more pages or designs, make sure you choose the correct quantity for the number of cards required.

Where the live product options allow it, you can also split an order quantity across several designs. This can be useful for a small range of cards, seasonal variations or a collection of designs for retail and handmade-market stock.
