Give a thoughtful message, detailed illustration or business correspondence room to breathe with professionally printed A5 greeting cards from ABC Service. This larger folded format is suitable for substantial greetings, invitations, wedding stationery, Christmas cards, artwork-led retail ranges and premium business communication.

Each card is printed from an A4 sheet measuring 210×297mm, scored down the middle and folded to a finished A5 size of approximately 148×210mm. Cards are supplied with a choice of white or Kraft envelopes, making them suitable for posting, presentation, retail display and customer communication.

What size is an A5 greeting card?

The finished folded card is approximately 148×210mm. It is produced from a flat A4 sheet measuring 210×297mm before the centre score and fold.

The folded card provides four areas for your design:

    • The front cover
    • The back of the card
    • The inside left panel
    • The inside right panel

A5 is a useful choice when an A6 card does not provide enough space for your message, artwork or supporting information. It remains a familiar portrait format while giving the design a much larger presence.

When the message deserves more room, A5 gives your artwork and words the space to make a proper impression.

How A5 greeting card printing works

The production process begins with a flat A4 sheet. Your artwork is printed across the sheet, allowing for the front, back and inside panels. The sheet is then scored through the centre and folded into the finished A5 portrait card.

Scoring creates a controlled fold line and helps the card fold neatly, particularly when using heavier card media. The artwork needs to be prepared as a flat sheet, not simply as a single front-cover image.

When are A5 greeting cards useful?

The larger A5 format is suitable for personal, event, retail and business uses, including:

    • Detailed birthday and anniversary messages
    • Wedding and celebration stationery
    • Invitations with additional information
    • Christmas and seasonal correspondence
    • Artwork-led retail and handmade-market ranges
    • Customer appreciation cards
    • Business letters and premium correspondence
    • Product inserts with more detailed information
    • Charity, fundraising and community card collections

A5 is particularly useful when a photograph, illustration or longer message needs to be part of the card rather than supplied on a separate sheet.

    Choose the card media

GSM means grams per square metre and is a common way of describing paper and card weight. A higher gsm generally indicates a heavier material, while the surface and construction also influence the final feel.

The A5 product page lists these media options:

    • 300gsm Uncoated for a natural surface that can be suitable for handwriting
    • 350gsm Silk for a smooth surface and clean colour reproduction
    • 400gsm Artboard for a heavier, more rigid feel
    • 280gsm Kraft for a warm brown appearance with natural character
    • 300gsm Gesso for a distinctive textured-style surface

Choose the media according to how the card will be used. A detailed retail illustration may suit a different surface from a handwritten invitation or a business correspondence card.

    Envelopes and finishing options

A5 greeting cards can be supplied with white or Kraft envelopes. White offers a clean, familiar presentation, while Kraft gives the package a warmer, more natural appearance.

The product page also lists these finishing options:

    • No Laminate
    • Matt Laminate
    • Gloss Laminate
    • Soft Touch Laminate

Lamination adds a protective film and changes the appearance and handling of the printed surface. Matt laminate reduces shine, gloss laminate increases sheen and Soft Touch laminate gives a smooth, tactile feel.

Single-sided and double-sided printing options are available. Check the live product configuration to ensure the selected media, printing, envelope, lamination and quantity suit your artwork.

    Prepare your A5 artwork correctly

The current product instructions request artwork at 303×216mm, including 3mm bleed on every edge. Bleed is extra background artwork that extends beyond the final trim area, helping avoid unwanted unprinted edges after cutting.

    When preparing your file:

    • Supply artwork at 303×216mm including 3mm bleed on every edge
    • Allow for the A4 flat sheet and centre fold that create the A5 card
    • Keep text, logos and important details safely inside the trim area
    • Keep fine details away from the centre score
    • Check that inside pages are correctly oriented before exporting
    • Extend background colours and images into the bleed area
    • Proofread names, dates, addresses and messages before uploading

A folded paper dummy can help you check the front, back and inside panels. This is particularly useful where a design crosses the fold or includes directional illustrations.

    Ordering multiple designs

The ordering system cannot detect multi-page documents automatically. If your artwork contains two or more pages or designs, choose the correct quantity for the number of finished cards required.

Where the live product options allow it, an order quantity can be split across several designs. This may suit a seasonal collection, a retail range, several invitations or different business card designs.
